RLHP runs two residential rehabilitation homes for the street children of Mysore, Asha Kirana for boys and Asha Bhavana for girls. Mysore City has more than 700 children living on the streets. RLHP decided in 1992 to start a rehabilitation programme for these street children.


RLHP has emerged as a resource center and imparts training on social work to other NGO representatives, Social activists and students Anubhava, a training center for human development was inaugurated on 3rd September 2003

In 1984 Rural Literacy and Health Programme (RLHP) was registered as a Non-Governmental Organization under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960. It was the coming together of a group of dedicated and like-minded people. The motivating factor was their concern for and desires to make a difference to the lives of the underprivileged, disadvantaged and deprived sections of society. RLHP is governed by a board of Management. It operates in 56 slums and 25 villages in Mysore, Mandya & Chamarajanagar districts of Karnataka State in South India covering a population of 50,000.
